Registration & Payment Information

All writers must reserve a spot in a class or workshop by contacting Vanessa Shields and by paying in-full for the class or workshop.

Classes and workshops will always have maximum attendance numbers. These numbers are located in the class/workshop descriptions and vary depending on the class/workshop.

RESERVATIONS ARE MADE ON A FIRST-PAY-FIRST-RESERVE-BASIS for all workshops and classes (this includes ‘free’ workshops – registration contact must be made to reserve a spot).

All classes and workshops will a ‘REGISTER BY’ date. Please be aware of this date. It will be listed on the class/workshop information page. We have a register by date because we need time to prepare for the workshop/class.

Here's How To Register & Pay

Reserve your seat in a class or workshop by calling Vanessa at 519-999-2314 OR emailing her at shieldsvanessa@gmail.com.

*Please note: payment for class/workshop registration will not happen during scheduled classes/workshop/event times. Appointments must be made at alternate times.

Registration Via Email:

Please write: CLASS/WORKSHOP REGISTRATION in the subject line.
Within the email, please include the following contact information:
The class/workshop you want to register for
(Class Name/Workshop Title)
Your full name
Your mailing address
Your phone number
Your email
Any food allergies
HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY

Emails will be answered within 1-2 business days, and are kept in order of when they are received based on the date.

Registration Via Telephone

If you are reserving by telephone, please call 519-999-2314 and leave the following information on the voicemail (or be prepared to give the following information to Vanessa when she answers!):

The class/workshop you want to register for (Class Name/Workshop Title)
Your full name
Your phone number
HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY

When your phone call is returned, Vanessa will get the rest of the contact information she needs (email, mailing address, food allergies), and confirm your payment method.

Phone calls will be returned within 1-2 business days. Messages will be kept in order of when they are received.

Payment Methods

Registration is only complete when full payment for the class/workshop has been received.

There are several ways to pay for things at Gertrude’s Writing Room. We will do our best to be accommodating at all times regarding how to pay.

Cash – Writers can pay cash for classes and workshops in person by going to Gertrude’s Writing Room and paying Vanessa directly. Please confirm office hours to make an appointment with Vanessa. Office hours change, but Vanessa is always available via email (shieldsvanessa@gmail.com – please write ‘Payment Appointment Request’ in the subject line) or phone
(519-999-2314) to make an appointment.
Debit/Credit – In-Person – Writers can pay with a credit card using the Square system available at Gertrude’s Writing Room. Currently, debit/credit payments must be made in person. Please confirm office hours to make an appointment with Vanessa. Office hours change, but Vanessa is always available via email (shieldsvanessa@gmail.com – please write ‘Payment Appointment Request’ in the subject line) or phone (519-999-2314) to make an appointment.
Cheque – Please make cheques payable to Vanessa Shields. Please be sure to hand-deliver or mail the cheque before the class/workshop begins. If you are mailing the cheques, please mail them to 2695 Everts Ave, Windsor, ON, N9E 2T9.

4. Paypal – PayPal instructions:

If not already registered for PayPal please sign up then continue
Go to SEND MONEY

AMOUNT: $_____CAD (enter the full amount of the class/workshop)

Customer support for PayPal can be reached at 1-877-569-1116 or by clicking on the “Help” option when you sign into your account.

5. Interac e-transfers through on-line banking or Smartphone/Cell phone app:

Go to your banking website or banking telephone app
Go to ‘transfers’ → Interac e-transfers
Create an account for our transaction (follow the prompts via your banking website/phone app)
Send to email address: shieldsvanessa@gmail.com
Create a password using the generic sentence: ‘What does Vanessa teach?’ Password: writing
